Questions about Financial Reporting & Year-End

Not answered here? Ask Ana in writing: it's the quickest way to a clear reply.

Do you prepare and file my statutory accounts?

AFS Books prepares and organises the year-end information: reconciled records, fixed-asset records and year-end adjustments where applicable. Your accountant then uses it to prepare and file the statutory accounts and tax returns. If you don't have an accountant yet, mention it in your enquiry.

What is the difference between financial and management reporting?

Financial reporting shows your position and results: the profit and loss account and the balance sheet. Management reporting is the regular information you use to run the business, such as trends, key figures and how this month compares with the last.

How often can I receive reports?

Monthly or quarterly are the most common rhythms, chosen to suit how you run the business and when you make decisions.

Why does year-end take so long when the books are messy?

Because your accountant has to correct the records before they can use them. Keeping the books reconciled through the year, with adjustments made in the right period, is what makes year-end smooth.
